I actually have them both in my league, I like Robinson but love the upside of Smith.

there is no upside to consider, Keenan Robinson is just the "safe" I don't want to look like an idiot pick, no idea why hes so highly ranked in IDP circles, hes an LB 3/4... hell finish with 100 total tackles and 0 other stats.
Telvin Smith, outscored him last year in most leagues, and will again this year, you close the same tackle production, and toss in some TFLs and sack, PD potential. |

To provide a counter point, I would like to call out a few things:
1) Robinson missed three games last year and still had the same amount of tackles as Telvin Smith at 104. Granted Smith wasn't playing in subpackages until later in the year. 2) Washington's stat crew is top 5 in terms of tackles issued per opportunity. Jacksonville is in the bottom 6. 3) Robinson is the clear #1 LB in Washington with little tackle competition. Smith has tackle beast Paul Posluszny to contend with which will ultimately limit his ceiling. 4) Robinson actually does have some big play potential as witnessed by his 2.5 sacks last year in 13 games. Not saying that Robinson is that much better than Smith. They are actually neck and neck projections, but it's not as clear cut as it may seem :). |

Thanks guys. So Telvin Smith's 3 and 4 tackle games at the beginning of 2014 shouldn't happen this year since he's playing every down right?

Correct, you wont see 3-4 tackle games this year.
all of what Guru said is true as well... Im not saying Robinson isn't worth starting, but I don't see him as high a the a lot of the IDP rankings gave him, both could have similar years, but I see Telvins floor as Robinsons ceiling. Riley Jr and Kerrigan were there last year as well, so his competition is the same, its not great tackling LBs, but they are decent players and Kerrigan is a full on star when it comes to real life impact. But hey, its all opinions! no ones right the times there wrong :P |
